Safety Observation Report System

Safety observation report cards are found on almost all large construction sites today, they are a valuable tool that allow any person report on safety issues.

With that said many construction management teams find the system challenging to run with issues stemming form the time consuming administration efforts involved in the system.

To run a SOR system on a large site you must:

• Order and stock SOR cards
• Replenish cards at various locations on a site
• Collect SOR cards from various locations daily or weekly
• Read SOR cards/gather data
• Act on SOR's

Each of the items listed above come with there own issues:

• SOR's cards may have a lead time for delivery
• Updates cannot be made between orders so areas and contractors are often not up to date
• Collecting cards takes time
• Large time gap between completion of an SOR card and the time it arrives back in the office.
• SOR's benefits may have expired by the time they are read
• SOR's may not be completed properly and hand writing may not be legible
• Card scanning systems are often unsuccessful due to lack of care been taken on card completion
